Macrobetix – “Green Beret and Congressional Medal of Honor veteran John Rambo seeks out a fellow friend and platoon member Delmar Barry in the small town Hope in Washington. After finding out his friend died of cancer Rambo heads into the town where he runs into the Sheriff Will Teasle. Seeing Rambo as a drifter and threat to his peaceful town Will attempts to drive him out, but Rambo doesn’t take his warnings and is eventually arrested for vagrancy. After continually being mistreated by the law enforcement which triggers traumatic memories of war for Rambo he eventually snaps and escapes. Rambo’s training kicks in and a small war breaks out that culminates in him breaking down and surrendering.
An incredible portrayal of the treatment of veterans at the time and the effects of war on them. Sylvester Stallone is astounding throughout the film, not only as the ultimate soldier single-handedly dealing with 200 local and national guards, but also in the sequence when he finally emotionally snaps whilst with Colonel Samuel Richard Trautman. One of the greatest war films of all time.”
